Bad breath is mostly caused by sulfur-producing bacteria that normally live on the surface of the tongue and in the throat. -Acid reflux from the stomach.
-Postnasal discharge due to chronic sinusitis.

-Kidney failure, various cancers, and diabetes which causes acetone-like odor, metabolic imbalances, and biochemical disturbances, together account for a very small percentage of bad breath.

-Foods – such as onions, garlic, or broccoli, which cause certain odors. However, these effects are short-lived.

About the symptoms that appear in a person suffering from bad breath, it includes:
A white coating on the tongue especially at the back of the tongue, dry mouth, thick saliva, and a constant need to clear your throat, a bitter and sour metallic taste.
Undoubtedly, bad breath affects a person socially. If a person is aware that he has bad breath, this leads to him retreating from others or turning his head away from them. This definitely causes a loss of confidence and self-esteem.

Treatment of bad breath (Halitosis):

We do not have one solution for this problem; because it has various causes so treatment depends on the underlying problem.
It is important to avoid dehydration and to have good oral hygiene, including brushing and flossing. Certain mouthwashes and toothpaste can help combat bad breath.
Gently and effectively cleaning the tongue for a good amount of time is also very much needed, as 90% of oral bacteria live on the tongue. We should mention that the parts that are difficult to reach whit a brush are the worst, and most likely, this part is the cause of the smell if it is not reached by brush.
